SPRING  2022  RECRUITING OPENING SOON

If you are interested in becoming an Analyst with the Polar Investment Club, please feel free to reach out to any of the club's current senior leadership.

General Members

All Bowdoin students are encouraged to sign up for the Polar Investment Club.  Members of the club can apply to be Analysts at any point in their Bowdoin career.  They will receive weekly newsletters covering a wide variety of topics in finance (ie. market updates, stock pitches, personal finance lessons, tips and tricks for a career in finance, etc.), and any updates on guest speakers, etc.

Analysts

Analysts, who typically join Polar Investments during their first or second years in College, must go through an application and interview process to begin contributing to newsletters. Analysts will rotate through different groups throughout a semester term and are responsible for drafting materials, market research, and fundamental financial analysis.

Responsibilities include drafting materials for newsletters, market research, fundamental analysis, and generating ideas to further the club’s newsletters.

Senior Analysts

After spending a full-year as analysts, club members are encouraged to apply to become Senior Analysts, who share the same responsibilities as Analysts, but also assume increased leadership responsibilities as head of a specific newsletter group. Applications will be reviewed by the current Co-Presidents.

Responsibilities include all those of Analysts as well as managing the work flows of contributing Analysts.  Senior Analysts are in charge of different topic-based sections of the newsletter for a semester term, ensuring deadlines are met and quality of work product.

The Board

Board Members are former Senior Analysts or Club Leaders, typically in their fourth year in College.  Incoming Board Members are either selected by the Outgoing Board Members or immediately included as a member after 3 years as either an Analyst, Senior Analyst, or Club Leader.

Members of the Board are involved in recruiting new Analysts, selecting Senior Analysts, hosting coffee hours on a variety of topics in finance, and developing mentorship and continuing education initiatives for the club.

Co-Presidents

The Co-Presidents are typically third year students who have graduated from Analysts to Senior Analysts, at which point they must go through an application and interview process conducted by the Board to become Presidents. They lead the club for a full academic year (two semesters) and oversee the production of the newsletter, all analyst operations, recruiting, communication with the administration, guest speaker series, and community engagement.

Responsibilities include executing newsletter production, offering guidance to analysts/senior analysts, sending club-wide emails, securing guest speakers, and generally ensuring that Polar Investment Club is running smoothly and efficiently. Presidents are encouraged to think “big-picture,” to take the club in new directions while maintaining continuity and the quality of past endeavors.
